Most Touching/Heartwarming Scenes in Anime

It's cold outside so today I decided to share some of anime's most heartwarming scenes to counter the cold and bring some warmth into your hearts. The list is not in any particular order so number 1 doesn't mean it's the most touching, and number 10 doesn't mean it's the least touching. Every scene I am listing here will be a spoiler, so if you don't want any spoilers, I'd recommend holding off on reading this list or not watching the videos of the anime you haven't watched.

If you don't want Spoilers, you should leave

1. Gurren Lagann: Kamina's Final Speech
This is a shortened version of the full scene, but this is the main part. After Kamina dies, Simon eventually recovers but he never fully accepts his death. It isn't until this scene that Simon finally mans up and it's all thanks to this speech that Kamina gives him. This speech is not only inspirational but also is extremely touching after everything that happens in the series especially what Simona and Kamina went through together. I might not have enjoyed the second half of Gurren Lagann as much as the first half, but from here on, it was back to the good old days.

2. Ano Hana: Final Hide and Seek with Menma
This is a repeat from my post last week on heartbreaking moments, but this also doubles as a heartwarming. Even though Menma disappears, she leaves so much. The once estranged friends are able to reconcile, Menma's family is back on good terms, and everyone is finally able to move on. This scene is more than a tearjerker, but the final turning point for every character in the series.

3. K-on!: Tenshi ni Fureta Yo!
When I watched K-on I never expected any kind of emotional scenes. This came completely out of nowhere and caught me off guard. Azusa joins the band and is initially thrown off by how lax everyone is. But she grows with them through the course of the two seasons and becomes very attached to them, and them to her. Towards the end of the series, everyone but Azusa is about to graduate, meaning that she'll be left alone. Azusa can't deal with that and tries to run away and deny that it's happening. Yui, Mugi, Mio, and Ritsu recognize this and compose a song for Azusa to show how much they care for her and that they'll be friends forever no matter how far they get separated. This song is one the most touching pieces that came out of this anime and this scene is definitely one of the most heartwarming scenes I've ever seen in anime.

4. Isshukan Friends: Would You Be My Friend?
I'd like to say that all of Isshukan Friends is heartwarming, but I decided to settle for the end. After everything they go through, Kaori and Yuuki are still best friends and are continuing their relationship. This scene shows just how much they've been through and how they've grown. Through thick and thin, they stay friends and that's what this final scene is all about. It's very touching to see the perseverance of Yuuki to stay her friend and help her make more friends even knowing her condition. This is just one of the touching scenes from the anime, but it's definitely one of the best to demonstrate just how heartwarming this show is.

5.  The Idolm@ster: Yakusoku
This is one of my favorite scenes in any anime I've ever watched. It's such a touching scene that was perfectly built up over the course of several episodes. Chihaya stands on the stage once more thinking that she was ready to sing again after she lost her voice but when it came time, she couldn't. The crowd starts to become restless, wondering if this is the end of Chihaya's career, but Haruka dashes onto the stage and begis singing. Not too long after Chihaya realizes that the rest of the 765 pro idols are standing with her, singing and conveying that they're with her. After the first verse ends, Chihaya grips her microphone and lets out a strong, pure singing voice. It's that moment that really makes the scene. Every time I watch this, I get chills. Heck, even listening to the song without the video, I get chills, the scene is just that powerful.

6. Little Busters: Haruka
There are a lot of touching scenes in Little Busters, but this one stands out to me the most possibly because I love reconciliation with family, but I think the scene is so great because after learning about Haruka and Kanata's past and what they've been through, it's great to see the growth that Haruka goes through. Haruka is also one of my favorite characters from Little Busters so maybe that's why.

7. Clannad: After Story: Tomoya and his Father
As I said, I love reconciliation, and this scene is probably the king of reconciliation scenes....and tears. Ever since season 1, Tomoya's father has been built up as a callous, horrible parent who did nothing but ruin Tomoya's life. After this scene though, he seems anything but. This scene demonstrates not only the growth of Tomoya as a person but as a parent. Beware of the feels that come from this scene.

8. Angel Beats: Yui End
From the beginning, Yui was always that hyper, energetic girl that no one could really keep up with. It's only in the end, when her past is revealed, and she tries to pass on that you realize that she isn't as happy go lucky as she seems. She had a pretty crappy life when she was alive and it's only now that she's dead that she is able to live a life that she wants to live. This scene is touching because of Yui's character showing weakness and acceptance of her past and fate. The acceptance of these really drives the final nail into the coffin in both a metaphorical and literal sense. The little bit of romance and friendship at the end with Hinata make this scene a much more heartwarming experience than a sad one.

9. Aria the Origination: Lumis Eterne
I plan to feature Aria on a Memory Monday soon, so for those of you who haven't watched it, do not worry. For those of you who have watched Aria, I doubt you'll have forgotten this scene. The beautiful orange sky accompanied by Alice's pristine voice makes the scene that much more heartwarming. Alice, the youngest in the group is finally being promoted becoming a full fledged Undine. This symbolizes not only her growth from the shy but mature child from season one, but her growth as a person. It's a very beautiful scene that has been imprinted on my heart as one of the most heartwarming scenes in anime.

10. Eve no Jikan: Masaki and Tex
I'd suggest watching the entire episode or series for the full effect, but for those of you who have watched the anime, this might be enough to get the feels flowing. In this episode, we find out why Masaki hates robots. In just 18 minutes, his entire character is flipped around and it feels completely natural. Masaki gets called to the cafe and finds his home's robot Tex there. He reveals that Tex used to be his best friend until he "betrayed" him and never spoke again. When he finally speaks in the end, it's very touching and even more when they reconcile and leave hand in hand. Eve no Jikan is great at pulling all kinds of emotions out of its viewers, and this is no different.
