Top Anime That Deserve Another Season But Haven't Gotten One

A lot of times there's an anime series that airs, completes and leaves you wanting more. Often, this series is based off source material that is still ongoing, so a second season after there's a big enough gap between the source material and the anime shouldn't be too much to ask right? Especially if there are a lot of fans of the series. Unfortunately, second seasons are given to the unworthy and good series are left to dry. This list (not in any particular order) is to show that we still remember these series and are still waiting for another season. The anime on this list are mostly personal preference and are series that have gone years without even a hint as to any kind of continuation in the form of an animated series.

Spoiler-free post this way

1. Full Metal Panic
Full Metal Panic got 2 seasons and a spinoff but it never got a third season. It's come to the point that every time Kyoto Animation announces a new project everyone starts to look for any clues that might indicate that it's Full Metal Panic. It goes without saying that Full Metal Panic has been and is popular, so why hasn't there been anything since Second Raid in 2005? There are currently 23 volumes of the light novel that have been out for awhile now so there's definitely enough source material. One day, I hope we can all rejoice over a new season of Full Metal Panic.

2. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
After Haruhi's second season, there were a lot of mixed opinions on it. All of those were completely washed away after the movie release of Haruhi'sfan favorite arc, Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya). The movie was everything fans wanted and more and since it was released in 2010, there has been no word on another season. Of course, there's the spinoff series, Nagoto Yuki-chan no Shoushitsu (The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan) but that isn't Haruhi. That is not what fans want. There are 11 novels of Haruhi and it is still ongoing. You have the material and demand from fans. Please give us another season.

3. Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi
The first season felt like an appetizer. It gave viewers a taste of the world and it was surprisingly good. Good enough that I would love another season to see how the story progresses. The light novel series ended its 9 volume run in 2014 meaning that it wouldn't be to hard to pump out another season since it would be able to follow the original story without having to worry about catching up.

4. Umineko no naku Koro ni
You might recognize this from my previous post about worst anime adaptations. Umineko no Naku Koro ni was a pretty bad adaptation because it set up so much and didn't answer anything. The set up would be ok IF they were able to answer it, and since they couldn't do it in the first season, a second season would be a great way to do that. Umineko's sister series Higurashi did that very thing. All the mysteries in the first season, all the solutions in the second season. I want the solutions and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

5. No Game No Life
No Game No Life is a very recet anime but there has been no word on whether or not it will get a second season. I know I"m not alone in being a fan of the series. So far there are 6 volumes meaning that there is definitely room for a second season. I know I wouldn't be the only one pleased by he decision to make another season.

6. Panty and Stocking
The ending for Panty and Stocking was a huge HUGE twist and it happened right at the end. Usually when this happens, a second season happens to explain it and continue the story but, no. There has been no word on any continuation of this series meaning that everything that happened in Panty and Stocking was basically for nothing.

7. To aru Majutsu no Index/ To aru Kagaku no Railgun
This series has so many light novels and fans I really think that it's a stupid move NOT to make another season. Granted both Index and Railgun have 2 seasons and there's a movie, but they barely scratched the surface of the light novels. There's so much more left and I'm sure fans would be happy to watch it.

8. Seitokai no Ichizon
When it was announced that Seitokai no Ichizon would be getting a second season after 2 years of no word, I was ecstatic. When the second season ended, I was hoping for another season especially considering that they barely touched any of the story points that they set up and the light novel series only has 10 volumes. I really think the world could benefit from another season.

9. Date a Live
It shouldn't be any surprise at this point that I like Date a Live. Critically, I think it's not so great but entertainment wise I really enjoy it. Date a Live is actually getting a movie version that isn't a recap of the first two seasons soon, though I think another season would still be great especially considering the amount of things that happen between the end of the second season and the latest light novel. I know there are a lot of Date a Live fans like me out there and I'm sure another season would be greatly appreciated.

10. Unbreakable Machine Doll
This is another series that is somewhat of a guilty pleasure. The light novel currently has 14 volumes and is ongoing while the initial anime release only covered roughly 2 volumes. I think the material is interesting enough to get a second season, so if it could, that'd be great.

11. Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
This series was hilarious and it didn't even catch up to the manga. If they do the same job they did in the first season, a second season would be equally if not more entertaining.

12. Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
Final guilty pleasure on this list. Haganai is a typical harem ecchi with another hopeless excuse for a main character but what I like about the series are the other characters which make the series very entertaining. Currently, the light novel series is at 10 novels and I know that the second season didn't get very far into the series. There's definitely more that they can animate and I'd definitely watch it.

13. Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-Chan
Bokusatsu Tenshi Dokuro-chan is an ultraviolent comedy ecchi and it is amazing. The light novel series went on for 11 novels but the anime only had a total of about 12 episodes which is incredibly unfortunate because it was so funny. Hoping for another season of this when it's been 8 years since the last time it was relevant is a bit much, but I'd still love to see more of this show.

14. Spice and Wolf
Spice and Wolf is one of those shows that is amazing even though it may not look or sound like it would be. Ask anyone who has watched the series though and I' sure you'll be met with positive feedback. Unfortunately, Spice and Wolf only has 2 seasons even though it has 17 volumes worth of material. I'm sure no one would complain if Spice and Wolf even got one more season.

15. Carnival Phantasm
I believe that somewhere it might have been announced that there would be another Carnival Phantasm but since it hasn't been officially announced, I've put it on this list. Carnival Phantasm is a comedy featuring Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night characters. Carnival Phantasm is the ultimate form of fan service and with the success of Fate/Zero, their newest release Mahoutsukai no Yoru, and their reboot of Fate/Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works, it's about time that we see another Carnival Phantasm.
